‘Posh Pawn’ TV Firm Set To Feature Brown & Gold Pawnbrokers

Diary Of A Pawnbroker

The television company that make ‘Posh Pawn’, the documentary about a pawnbrokers in London who lend thousands of pounds on the most bizarre and unusual items, have selected Brown and Gold as one of their next feature companies.

Boomerang TV shortlisted the Yorkshire based jewellers and pawnbrokers after an extensive tour of the UK and begin filming in late January 2015.

Brown and Gold have 6 branches across the North of England with 3 in our region at Seacroft, Batley and Christopher Brown Jewellers in Shipley. The new documentary featuring 20 episodes, is due to focus on 6 Northern based firms and show some of the more unusual sides of the business such as valuing and lending on high value estate jewellery, works of art, antiques and even motor cars!

Christopher Brown, owner and Director of the Brown and Gold is himself a sixth generation pawnbroker.

“Over my years I have been featured in many TV programmes about pawnbroking and the service we offer. This documentary is different though as they are looking to focus on the people behind the transactions as well as the staff and characters that make it happen at our end.

I think that’s why we were chosen – we have some whacky people working in our business, we are like a big family, and the TV company were fascinated by the relationships between our staff and our customers and in particular how close and personal the lending process really is”.

The company are looking for customers who may want to feature on the series especially those with weird and wonderful items to sell or pawn.

“We have been offered a World War 2 tank to take as a potential loan but I think we would rather focus on the more usual jewellery and prestigious watches. However I do think the tank would look good parked outside our branch in the TESCO carpark at Seacroft!”
