am absolutely thrilled to share some monumental news with you all. This past weekend, against the iconic backdrop of Tower Bridge at Potters Fields Park, SeeAbility officially made history. We have broken the Guinness World Record for the most participants featured on a live portrait installation in 48 hours!
You can see the incredible moment of celebration captured in the attached file, IMG_2185.jpg, which shows me right alongside the official Guinness World Records lady judge, holding her clipboard proudly in front of the historic Tower Bridge.
48 Hours, Two Artists, and 800 Faces
This was a grueling, exhilarating 48-hour live marathon. The extraordinarily talented Luke Embden and I worked tirelessly over two non-stop days. Together, we drew an astonishing 800 participants directly onto a massive live canvas!
Every single face on that mural represents a real person standing in solidarity with SeeAbility's mission. Watching the canvas come alive in real-time via our live video streams was nothing short of magic. Luke and I poured our absolute hearts, souls, and sharpies into this achievement, and when the official lady judge verified the final count and handed over the title, the energy on the ground was electric.
Why We Doodled: Changing Lives Like Terrence’s
As historic as this Guinness World Record is, the true heart of this event wasn't just about breaking a record—it was about shining a massive light on the vital cause of sight and eye care.
We did this for people like Terrence. For years, Terrence lived with a severe, life-altering prescription of -19 sight in his eye. Imagine navigating the world through that level of profound blur, completely isolated from the simple joy of sightseeing or clearly seeing the faces of loved ones. It wasn't until SeeAbility stepped in, properly assessed his vision, and custom-made the specialized glasses he so desperately needed that his entire world changed. Terrence finally realized exactly what he had been missing out on.
Our record-breaking mural is a beautiful, visual celebration of that exact gift: the gift of sight, of being seen, and of ensuring that adults and children with learning disabilities or autism get the specialized eye care they have a right to.
A Massive Thank You
This milestone belongs to everyone. Thank you to Luke for his unbreakable creative stamina, to the hundreds of people who queued up to have their portraits drawn, and to everyone who cheered us on online and in person.
