The Bike Shop on Crossgates Road, Leeds was first opened in July 2004 by husband and wife Richard and Janine Crawford. Having being in the bike trade for 15 years previously, they have a wealth of experience and Janine was the first ever female to qualify as a bike mechanic at the Raleigh factory in Nottingham.
[private]The couple thought that Leeds was lacking an independent bike shop and the opportunity arose for them to open in their current location. The store is in a fantastic position with ample free parking, and good transport links. The size of the unit means that they are able to stock a vast range of bicycles and also have an on-site fully equipped workshop.
All the staff in this family owned, family friendly business are fully trained and experienced, and as The Bike Shop is independent they are able to offer impartial advice on a depth of brands to ensure that you leave with the right bike for you. The staff are all parents too so are used to dealing with children, and are more than happy to help with finding a bike that is appropriate for your child.
As well as bikes, the store stocks everything you need to enjoy cycling whether you are a beginner or more experienced, from accessories to helmets and clothing. The fully equipped workshop can handle anything from a simple puncture repair to a full custom bike build should you wish. The fact that you can get everything you need from The Bike Shop at competitive prices makes the whole shopping experience so much easier than having to travel distances to go to different stores.
The size of the company also means they are able to pass great deals onto their customers. With the 2014 season coming to an end, The Bike Shop currently has fantastic offers on road, mountain and BMX bikes from leading brands including Specialized, Marin, Saracen and many others.
They are also starting to see suppliers launch their 2015 range with brand new bikes coming into store all the time. There is a lot of interest in electric bikes and you will find a good range of these in store too!
When you purchase a bike from The Bike Shop, it is fully built and adjusted to fit you. You are not simply handed a box and expected to put it together yourself at home. They have recently invested in new technology to further improve their full bike fitting service to enable the correct fit for each bike sold.
Included in the purchase is a 3 month bike service. You simply return to store at 3 months and your bike will be serviced and have any adjustments made that are necessary. This is all part of the personalised service provided at The Bike Shop.
Another great service they provide is the Christmas Club. You can go into store any time during the year, choose a bike and leave a deposit to collect the bike fully built nearer to Christmas. Customers can choose whether to pay the remaining balance in full on collection, or make weekly/monthly payments throughout the year. This is particularly helpful for families not only to help spread the cost of a bike purchase but also to ensure they get what they want and not have to rely on stock near to Christmas.
