What a lovely hot summer we have had this year. It’s been as hot as I can ever remember. Now we enter September, the nights turn darker and the weather cooler and windier, our thoughts begin to turn to Christmas.
‘Too soon’ I hear you say? Not really. We only have bonfire night and X-Factor to occupy us between now and then and with kids back to school and less than 4 months to go, it will be here before you know it. The pawnbroking arm of the business has remained steady throughout. We expect to see a peak in the late Autumn and at present it’s the ‘back to school’ mums and dads who are topping up their reserves to pay for new school kit and outstanding credit card bills from entertaining their family for the last 8 weeks. We have also had a large number of Asian jewellery loans, mainly to fund the Asian wedding season. As I wrote this article the festival season was well underway and hundreds of young adults were queuing up in Seacroft to attend the Leeds Festival.
