The Tesco at Seacroft are selling raffle tickets to customers every week from Thursday to Sunday with a winning ticket to be drawn each month. The proceeds raised from the raffle will see half going to support Tesco’s charities of the year Diabetes UK and British Heart Foundation and the other half going to the winner’s charity of choice. The first winner was Mrs Stothard, who decided to donate the raised amount of £645.00 to the Yorkshire Cancer Centre based in the Bexley Wing of St James’s Hospital.

Stephen Hilton-Pass, Customer Experience Manager said “We are pleased the raffle tickets are popular with our staff and customers and this initiative enables Tesco Seacroft and our 1st winner Mrs Stothard to help support Yorkshire Cancer Centre. We are confident that over the following months many other local charities will benefit and are happy that the money donated to them as the winners chosen charities will help make a difference”.

Sheila O’Shea Appeal Director at the Yorkshire Cancer Charity commented;

“Yorkshire Cancer Centre is delighted that Tesco Seacroft has identified the need to support local charities.  Staff and customers are far more likely to respond to a worthy cause on their doorstep when they can identify how their choice will make a difference – in this instance – to local people undergoing cancer treatment here in Leeds. We’re thrilled to have been chosen to receive the first donation in this new Tesco initiative – long may this brilliant enterprise continue to benefit the local community”
