Manor House Residential Care Home From Home

Business Reviews

Manor House residential care home in Old Farnley is a family run business established in 1988. The care home has a reputation for providing a warm, friendly atmosphere and many of the staff have been there since it opened. The residents here take priority and the home prides itself on offering that personal touch that only such a family orientated environment can. There is no institutionalised feel at Manor House, unlike in some of the larger care homes.

In a rural setting just next door to Farnley park and set in extensive grounds that are beautifully landscaped, Manor House offers a scenic yet secure setting in which to enjoy afternoon teas and walks, and is also a perfect spot for the wildlife lovers among the residents.

There are 30 beds for men and women, in both single and double rooms. The rooms are all fully equipped with electronic call systems, central heating and double glazing. Each room is different and residents can bring along their own furniture if they wish, for a more personal touch. Lifts are provided to the upstairs rooms, and there are no long corridors which helps to keep the ‘family home’ feel. Manor house has a wet room in addition to the en-suite bathrooms, and a smoking room is available for the resident smokers. All the laundry and cleaning is taken care of by staff.

All meals at Manor House are home cooked, using delicious fresh ingredients and a varied menu is offered daily to suit all cultures and nationalities. Special dietary requirements are easily catered for.  The residents sit around the dining table together at meal times and visiting family members are always welcome to join their relatives for dinner if they wish.

There is an ‘open house’ policy for visiting, with family members being able to visit any time between 9am-9pm. Family members are also welcome to stay over if a resident is poorly.

Manor House encourages its residents to pursue hobbies and live independent lifestyles, enabling choice and maintaining dignity. The house does not have massive lounges where people are distant from each other, instead offering cosier, friendly communal spaces. There is a varied in house social activities programme from baking, painting, and knitting to sing-alongs and quizzes, to name just a few. The residents can enjoy manicures and makeovers, or a visit from the hairdresser.

The home also arranges visits from opticians, chiropodists, and district nurses. There are shops and a pub where the residents can go locally should they choose.

The whole ethos of Manor House is to provide a family environment where our elderly relatives can live an independent and dignified life with full support. This is in evidence from the décor to the activities. The staff go out of their way to help – if a resident would like strawberries, someone would go out and get them if the shop was still open. It is dedication like this that can makes all the difference to the lives of the residents, and the staff clearly have fantastic relationships with the people they care for.

Manor House offers both private and local authority rates, and appointments are not always necessary for visits for respite or long term care.
