Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association (LYHA) has supported UK Housing Fast to raise money for The Trussell Trust, who provide a nationwide network of foodbanks. The housing association dropped off hundreds of pounds worth of food at the Leeds Trussell Trust depot and members of the team also took part in a one day fast.
The UK Housing Fast is an annual event, now in its 6th year, to raise awareness of food poverty in the UK as well as vital funding and supplies for The Trussell Trust which provides over 1.6 million food parcels to UK families every year.
Mark Pearson – LYHA Interim Chief Executive said; “LYHA is delighted to support such an important cause and we are thrilled with the generosity of our team members who have donated this fantastic amount of much needed provisions. We have supported The Trussell Trust, through donations to the Leeds North &West Foodbank, for a number of years now. Food banks are a sad reality in Britain today and they provide a vital lifeline in many communities. Campaigns such as the UK Housing Fast do much to highlight the importance of tackling food poverty and raise much needed funds. We will continue to pledge our support in the future.”
