Live Music At The Races

Last year saw the introduction of special summer evenings

that saw the combination of first class horse racing concluded by a concert by some of the biggest music stars of home and abroad. Kylie Minogue and The Kaiser Chiefs for example played to sell-out crowds at Haydock Park. This summer the trend continues and three such evenings have been announced for northern racecourses.

Sir Tom Jones will be bringing his huge repertoire

of hits from across genres and generations including ‘Kiss’, ‘Delilah’, ‘It’s Not Unusual’ to Aintree Racecourse this June for a not-to-be-missed night on the green. liveatraces_twoTom Jones is the latest addition to Aintree Racecourse’s new summer season of live shows, whilst Deacon Blue are set to open the inaugural events on 13th May 2016. National legend Tom Jones’ career has spanned over half a century, and has seen him win many accolades including a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement. A global star, who was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen in 2006, has amassed 36 top 40 UK hits and has a continued worldwide reputation as one of the great vocalists, earning the nickname ‘The Voice’.
Tom who will appear on the 10th June told us ‘I am very excited to be playing an open-air concert at Aintree Racecourse. I always have a fantastic time performing to audiences at Jockey Club Live events as they are such a great night out for everyone.’

The Jockey Club Live presents An Evening at the Races will also welcome The Corrs

as the first act added to their summer season of open-air live concerts at Haydock Park Racecourse. Since releasing their album ‘Forgiven, Not Forgotten’ in 1996, The Corrs have gone on to sell over 30 million albums worldwide. Known for hits including ‘Runaway’ and ‘Breathless’, the band took a 10-year break to spend time with their families while Sharon and Andrea also pursued solo careers. The Corrs|Live at Haydock Park|Yorkshire ReporterThey returned last year to a rapturous welcome, with their album ‘White Light’ going straight into the UK charts at #11 and saw the band catapulted back into the touring circuit with a sold-out arena tour. Andrea from the band told us ‘We love open-air summer shows, so are really looking forward to playing Haydock Park on 18th June after the races.
We had a fantastic time playing songs from our new album ‘White Light’ at the Echo Arena at the start of the year so can’t wait to perform all our hits for a few familiar faces and more this summer.’
