Leeds City Council To Put Development Land Under The Digital Hammer

Local News

Leeds City Council has instructed digital property auctioneer BidX1 to sell a green field site in its next online auction on 24th July.

The site, located at Grange Farm in the popular village of Colton on the eastern outskirts of Leeds, is listed with a guide price of £500,000.

The lot, comprising of an L-shaped area of grazing land covering approximately 0.57 acres (0.23 ha), currently houses several poor-quality storage buildings, has open fields on one side and forms part of the adjoining Grange Farm equestrian centre. The land fronts Park Road in the heart of the old village and is situated within the Colton conservation area.

The local planning authority has indicated the site could suit a courtyard scheme of five dwellings, subject to consents. This would enhance the area if the appropriate guidelines regarding construction materials were followed and the development was of similar character to the surrounding historic houses and barns.

Simon Riggall, Director at BidX1 commented: “The listing of the land at Grange Farm on the BidX1 digital platform will provide an opportunity to find the right buyer for the beautifully situated site. The attractive and historic Colton village provides the perfect location for someone looking to enhance an area of land within a conservation area.”

Colton is located within five miles of Leeds City Centre, with easy access to the M1. It is also in close proximity to Thorpe Park Business Park, Colton Retail Park and Springs Leisure Park as well as the planned location of a new railway station which will serve a local area being designated to 11,000 new homes.
