A record-breaking 6.2m long baby Minke Whale has arrived in the UK ahead of its journey to Harrogate as part of the European premiere tour of Sea Creatures.

New images of the ground-breaking exhibition have been released ahead of its opening on October 27 at Harrogate Convention Centre – the only English stop outside of London, with tickets now on sale.

Naz Kabir, Managing Director of Culture Event Creative, said: “The London stage of the tour has now opened and the next English stop is Harrogate. We can’t wait to bring this exciting, innovative and educational experience to Yorkshire and hope families are as excited as we are. It’s not often you get to say you’re bringing a whale to Harrogate!

“Thanks in part to high profile documentaries, there’s now a bigger conversation going on about our oceans and it’s brought the need for us to do more to protect them into sharp focus. We hope that if this exhibition can play even just a small part in raising awareness of the life and beauty under the waves, then that would be amazing.”

Using the plastination process made famous by Dr Gunther von Hagens, the exhibition will feature around 50 life-size ethically sourced creatures, including a baleen whale, whale shark, great white shark, octopus and more.

It also features the colossal ‘Hai Hai’ the baby Minke whale which was the first marine mammal to undergo the complex plastination process which sees experts replace fluids and soluble fats with a special resin to preserve the body and organs.
