It’s a case of all paws on deck at Dogs Trust Leeds as the team get ready for their annual Summer Fun Day for dog-lovers and their four legged friends on Sunday 4 August.

The annual Fun Day, held at the York Road rehoming centre, raises thousands of pounds each year for the rehoming centre’s rescue dogs and the staff are hoping the sun shines for the doggie day out. They would also love supporters to pop along to Dogs Trust Leeds before the big day with donations for their raffle and tombola, such as wine and chocolates.

On the day there will be fun and games for all the family and four-legged friends including the Fun Dog Show, Have-A-Go Agility, Haystack Hurdles, a fun fair  and activities for children, a raffle and auction, a food court and stalls full of delights for four and two-legged friends. Dogs Trust Dog School Leeds will be on hand to give free advice to dog owners who would like to know more about training their dog and they will also be offering fun interactive games for owners and their dogs.

Organiser Sarah Hey, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Leeds, says:

“The Summer Fun Day is our biggest fundraising event of the year and last year because of the incredibly hot weather we weren’t able to hold the full event, so we’re hoping to make up for it this year.

“At any one time we look after around 100 dogs so we are really grateful for the support we get at the Fun Day and all year round as it helps us make sure our dogs have everything they need whilst they are with us. We love owners to bring their dogs and it’s fantastic to see our Dogs Trust dogs with their new families too. It’s a great day out for all dog owners, and dog lovers who don’t have a four-legged friend of their own!”

The Summer Fun Day will be held at Dogs Trust Leeds at Woodlands Farm on York Road on Sunday 4 August from 11am. Entry fee is £3 per family. If you would like to drop off a donation to help make the fun day a success, please pop along to the rehoming centre.

If you would like to welcome a dog into your home, you can visit the rehoming centre which is open every day except Wednesday. From Friday to Monday it is open 12pm–4pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays it is open 12pm-7.30pm. You can also find out more about any of the dogs waiting for their forever homes at
