SELINA TRYS SKIING AT SNOZONE SNOCAMP

Hello readers and welcome to my review. This month I have an idea for something to do during the half term holidays which is a little bit different for ages 7-15. It is called Snocamp and takes place at Xscape Snozone in Castleford.

Snocamp runs from 8.30am – 5.30pm every weekday during all school holidays throughout the year, and you can choose skiing or snowboarding. It is normally a camp that you do for five days (Monday to Friday) but you can go for as few or as many days as you like. It is ideal for kids whose parents work and are looking for something different to do. It is suitable for children of any experience level. I was a complete beginner as I had never attempted skiing or snowboarding before and I had lots of fun. Read on to find out more about my day…

When I arrived I was asked what I would like for lunch (as this is included in the price) and then taken into a room to watch a movie until everyone had arrived and it was time to get changed and ready for the slopes. You can bring your own special waterproof/thermal clothing for skiing, but if like me you don’t have any you can hire them there.

When everyone is ready you are split into groups depending on your ability. You then start to head down to where you collect your ski boots and your skis/snowboard. I chose skiing. After getting all kitted out we went into the area with the slopes. As I was a beginner I was on the nursery slope and I was glad because the main slope looked incredibly high! My instructor was lovely and taught us all the basics including how to stop and how to use the rope to get to the top of the slope. We were taught several skills and how to make sure we didn’t go really fast down the slope.

After lots of practice it was time for break where we were given biscuits and a drink. We then practiced more up until lunch. I had a sandwich and chips which were very tasty. After lunch each day there is a different fun activity planned so that if you go all week you do a variety of things such as laser tag, gravity and adventure golf. The day I was there the activity was sledging and the ice slide which I absolutely loved.

Overall, I think Snocamp is a really fun and different thing to do. The cost is £50 per day or £225 for the full 5 days. Snozone are also running a promotion at the moment called ‘Hit New Heights’ where you get discounts when you buy a Snozone membership. The offer is as follows:
