Marks & Spencer, Moortown, Sponsor Two Very Special Puppies

Wagging Tales

Two very special puppies are to bring a bit of magic and sparkle to staff at Marks and Spencer’s store in Moortown, Leeds.
Puppies Magic and Sparkle started their incredible journey after being sponsored by Marks and Spencer through the Guide Dogs’ ‘Name a Puppy’ scheme. Magic is a male black labrador and Sparkle a female yellow labrador/golden retriever cross. Both pups are being looked after by their puppy walkers who live in the Leeds area.
Community Fundraiser for Guide Dogs in Leeds, Charlotte Walton explained “Each pup’s first year of training costs around £5,000 and we are extremely grateful to Marks and Spencer for choosing to support Guide Dogs. A name is the first gift a puppy receives. In raising the money to name two pups, Marks and Spencer have started them on a journey that will end with them becoming a lifeline to two people with sight loss. The store will receive regular updates, and when the pups are around 6 month’s old they will be taken to the store by their puppy walkers to meet the staff.”
Guide Dogs trains over 800 dogs with new blind or partially sighted owners each year and the charity relies entirely on public donations for this service. The charity’s ‘Name a Puppy’ scheme invites groups, companies and individuals to make an incredible gift or to fundraise to support a pup through their first training stage, which the charity calls Puppy Walking.
Through the ‘Name a Puppy’ scheme you don’t just have the opportunity to name one of their adorable pups, but for £5,000 you will also hear about their adventure as a guide dog puppy and meet the pup too.
Magic and Sparkle can’t wait to meet the people at Marks and Spencer who sponsored them, and they dream of a day when all of the other guide dog puppies are given a name in the same special way as they were.
