LIMEYARD – WHITE ROSE SHOPPING CENTRE

Food And DrinkLifestyle

The White Rose Shopping Centre recently unveiled their much-anticipated new restaurants. A popular shopping destination with the folk of West Yorkshire for the last 20 years, it has lacked somewhat in the eatery department, with hungry shoppers choosing from a few fast food outlets in the food court. This was always ok for a mid-shop refuel, but for those wishing to relax with a more substantial meal there wasn’t a lot on offer.

Now, however, the White Rose is the proud home to 6 new eateries in the new outdoor extension known as The Village. The restaurants are already open and will soon be joined by a children’s play area and an eleven screen cinema.

There are some familiar names among the new restaurants – TGI Fridays, Five Guys and Pizza Hut are there, as is Wagamama and Chiquito. The restaurant that caught our eye however was Limeyard. An unfamiliar name as this is Limeyard’s first venture ‘up north’ and the White Rose was the venue of choice for their first step into unchartered territory!

Limeyard is an all-day Californian kitchen offering delicious West Coast inspired dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner with an afternoon bake squeezed in too! The restaurant decor has a cool, fresh beach vibe which sets it apart from its neighbours and offers a relaxed, stylish environment in which to enjoy your food and cocktails. Two of us visited for dinner and enjoyed a really tasty meal, served up by the friendly front of house staff. The menu offers a good range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Some options were their signature buttermilk chicken, Coco-Cola glazed ribs, and tacos.

To start, my partner and I opted for Mission Street Wings, and a Sweetcorn Tamale Cake respectively which were both oozing with fresh flavours. Our mains were Roasted Miso Salmon, and a Bacon Double Cheese burger. The salmon was cooked to perfection on a bed of noodles with veg and chilli. The burger when placed in front of my partner was huge! Juicy burgers topped with cheese and crispy bacon. Both mains were thoroughly enjoyed, and although we were pretty much full we made room for dessert – a baked cheesecake and a huge waffle topped with caramelised bananas, hazelnuts, sauce and ice-cream.

The meal was delicious and we both agreed that Limeyard is a fantastic addition to Leeds and White Rose!
