Five Lions Clubs Collaborate To Help A Local Stroke Rehabilitation Unit

HealthHealthcare

Five local Lions Clubs, all members of the worldwide voluntary service and humanitarian organisation Lions Clubs International,  collaborated to help a local Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.
They presented a £2108 cheque to Ward L12, Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at the Leeds General Infirmary, for the purchase of a Rise & Recline Chair.
The chair will assist in the assessment of patient’s mobility to understand if the patient needs nursing home or care home accommodation on leaving the unit, as well as providing a comfortable seat for patients on the ward when not being used for assessments. This provides a valuable resource for the ward, but classed as a luxury, is not funded by the NHS.
The 5 Lions Clubs were from the Leeds area – Elmet, Garforth & District, Leeds Skyrack, Morley & District and Rothwell District; the project having being initiated by Zone Chairman Clive Barwell of Morley Lions and organised by Lion Gillian Swan, Welfare Chair at Garforth & District Lions.
