Committee Members And Volunteers Wanted

Local News

Would you like to help older people in your area, have you got some time and ideas, then you could be part of MAECare management committee.

MAECare (Moor Allerton Elderly Care) is a local organisation working in the Alwoodley, Moortown and Shadwell area of Leeds for people over 60. Set up in 1995 our aims are to prevent people being lonely and isolated as well as supporting people to live at home for as long as possible.

We offer a programme of social activities including outings far and wide, theatre trips and regular coffee mornings. There’s also the chance to attend adapted yoga, EXTEND exercise a swimming group and Zumba Gold – Zumba for older active people. For those who can’t get out we offer friendly visitors to visit in people’s own homes.
There’s much more happening and to find out more people over 60 in the area can receive the quarterly newsletter. If you just want some information then we can help with everything from blue badge applications to information about local gardeners.

MAECare has paid staff, but we couldn’t manage without our dedicated team of volunteers. We have over 100 working with us who help us support over 1000 people in our area.

However, responsibility for the organisation is with the management committee who are mainly older people themselves. The committee meets about every 6 weeks and there are lots of ways to be involved, we are especially looking for someone with marketing skills at the moment, but anyone who is interested is welcome. If you could help us in any way we’d love to hear from you.
